There are numerous historic gold towns nearby that are full of wonderful antique storesand museums. Visit the American River in Coloma and pan for gold at the original gold discovery site "Sutter’s Mill", or see the original Thomas Kinkade Art Gallery in "Old Hangtown" (Placerville). Go white water rafting in the summer or skiing in the winter, or plan a trip to one of the many events like the Fair Play Wine Festival in spring or the Apple Festival in fall.
If all you really want to do is relax, enjoy the solitude of this beautiful mountain setting. There is a fabulous wrap-around patio with spectacular views. Enjoy the private pool, a game of horseshoes, or a short hike down to the seasonal creek.
